In this album the artist did an absolutely remarkable job of fulfilling their aims and conveying the sickening, suffocating dread that all of us who are drawn to this kind of music have wallowed through at some time in the past. The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel. Metallurgical Fire
